Longwood's U13 Footballers revelled in the joy of victory after securing their first competitive victory against a strongly fancied St Vincent's team in Longwood this afternoon.

These boys have come close on a number of occasions over the past year but victory had eluded them.............until today!

Despite trailing their opponents from Ardcath for much of the contest, the Boys from the Wood kept on fighting and eventually got their reward, two late goals proving crucial and both scores were greeted with loud cheers from the home support.

Well done to all the players - onwards and upwards from here lads.

A special word of congratulations to their mentors - Emmet, Ronnie, Colin and Damien - they have shown tremendous dedication to this group of players and it is great to see it paying off.

Next up is an away fixture in Drumconrath next Saturday...............I'm sure the players cannot wait!
