With Meath coming to the end of their intercounty season, the attention of all Royal Gaels will soon switch to the club championship as the group stages start to take shape.

Round 3 of the SHC gets underway on Thursday evening, August 1st, when Longwood and Kildalkey make the short journey to Rathmolyon for a crucial fixture. Both teams have won one and lost one (coincidentally both suffering at the hands of Kiltale) of their two championship games to date, meaning the two points on offer for victory will be even more precious than normal. While defeat will certainly not preclude the losers from advancing to the knock-out stages, victory will leave the winners in a strong position with just 2 group games remaining.

When the teams met earlier this season in the League, Kildalkey won quite comprehensively. So Longwood will not lack for motivation.

The boys have raised their performance levels for the championship and we can only hope that this continues on Thursday.

The sliotar will be thrown in at 7.30 and we urge everybody to come out and support the boys.
