Having squeezed past neighbours Killyon in the opening round of this season's Senior Hurling Championship, Longwood lost out to Kiltale in the second round on a score line of 0-20 to 0-17.
Facing a Kiltale team that has won the last 5 senior championships was never going to be an easy task but Longwood can take heart from the fact that the final margin of defeat demonstrates that they were certainly competitive and such a performance gives them plenty to work on for the remainder of the competition.
The next round sees Longwood tackle Kildalkey in what is sure to be a key fixture in terms of deciding the outcome of Group A. As can be seen from the table below, the group is wide open with 4 teams currently sitting on 2 points.
