It promises to be an exciting couple of days for Longwood's young hurlers.

Monday evening sees our U12 hurlers host Drumree in the U12 Hurling League semi-final. The teams shared the points when they met in the group stages of the competition. On that occasion Longwood had to dig deep; two late points securing a draw. Since then, Longwood have posted victories over Blackhall Gaels and Wolfe Tones to ensure home advantage in the semi-final. The team have improved with every game and, under the tutelage of Enda Dixon and Jim Dorran, hopes are high that they can progress to the final.

We urge everyone to come out and support this fine young group of players.

Just 24 hours later on Tuesday evening Killyon/Longwood's U14 hurlers take on Donaghmore/Ashbourne in the final of the U14 Hurling Shield. After enduring a tough league schedule, Killyon/Longwood's U14s have bounced back to form in the Shield competition. A solid performance in victory over Kilmessan was followed by a breath-taking single point victory (after extra time) over neighbours Rathmolyon.

We wish the boys well for the final.

So hurling fans have no excuse - big games coming thick and fast as we build to the Christy Ring Cup Final on Saturday.

Here's hoping it's a successful week for our club and county.
