ACFL Division 3: Longwood 1-13 Drumbaragh 0-19
Longwood's footballers lost out to an in-form Drumbaragh outfit in an entertaining, and sometimes heated, League contest on Wednesday evening.
Home advantage made little difference in the first half as Longwood struggled to gain a foothold in the game. Drumbaragh were quick to settle and opened up a sizeable lead which they maintained for three quarters of the game. As always, Longwood battled hard and their trademark fighting spirit saw them keep the result in the balance particularly after Sean Coloe goaled with three minutes remaining. Indeed the boys could have snatched a draw in the dying seconds when a frantic goalmouth scramble saw the ball cleared off the Drumbaragh line on two occasions.
Ultimately Drumbaragh held on to secure two precious league points. Longwood's battle for survival in Division 3 will continue next week when they travel to Ardcath to take on St Vincent's.
