Clonard 0-7 Longwood 0-19
Longwood’s U12 Footballers made it two wins from their opening two league fixtures with victory over neighbours Clonard on Saturday last.
Despite the recent heavy rainfall, St Finian’s Park was presented in fantastic condition which made for an exciting game of football.
The opening half was a tight affair with both teams trading points, Longwood ultimately edging ahead by a single point just before the halftime whistle on a score line of 0-6 to 0-5.
Longwood’s forward line hit a rich vein of form in the third quarter and opened up a healthy lead with scores spread across a number of players.
Clonard, to their credit, never gave up the fight and they picked off a couple of excellent points as the game drew to close.
Longwood’s next league fixture takes place on April 21st when they host St Colmcille’s.
