Anyone who witnessed the opening round of the Minor Football Tournament in Longwood on Friday evening will have been royally entertained by two excellent teams who served up an exciting game of end-to-end football.
This was the first outing for the Longwood/Boardsmill combined (independent) team and after a slightly shaky start, they settled into the game and played some excellent football against a dangerous opponent.
The coaching team of Alan Holton, Ronnie Feerick and Eric Cribbin have been working hard with the players, and they must have been delighted with how they played on their maiden voyage.
The goals came from James Cully, Alex Leonard-Tuohy and Patrick Guy and they were ably supported by some excellent performances from their team mates, with Enda Byrne and Tom Cassidy particularly prominent.
So a fine start to the season for this young team. We look forward to seeing them develop further over the coming weeks and months.
