Longwood's minor footballers got their championship season off to a positive start with a hard fought victory over a dogged Carnaross side on Monday evening.
A strong wind and greasy underfoot conditions made things difficult for both teams.
Longwood played with the breeze in the opening half and a William Phillips goal helped them to a 1-5 to 0-4 half-time lead.
Carnaross came back into the game after the break and it took a number of excellent saves from Sandijs Buls and a Conor Dixon goal to ensure the victory.
It was a true team effort with every player giving their all for their team. The win represented a massive turnaround as Carnaross had comprehensively
beaten Longwood earlier this season in the League. So great credit is due to all the players.
Well done lads!
