Longwood’s second team maintained their early season form with a hard-fought victory against a dogged Moynalty team on Wednesday evening.
Amazingly after a dry day, Longwood’s pitch was an oasis of green in a county seemingly submerged in water.
Despite the pitch looking well, the underfoot conditions were very heavy and this seemed to effect the Longwood legs in the second half, understandable given that this was their second game in 48 hours.
But semi-finals, regardless of the competition, are all about winning and Longwood did enough to get over the line. Their reward is a place in the final against Meath Hill or Ballinabrackey. Nothing easy there!
Longwood: Kevin Maguire, Jason Kerrigan, Cian O’Sullivan, Coyle O’Brien, Adam O’Brien (0-1), Tomás O’Brien, Lorcan Hannon, Ciaran Sheridan, Bob Maguire, Gavin Griffith (0-2), Sean Sheridan, Louis Butler (0-2), Adrian Maguire, Anthony Healy (1-2), Sam Dixon (0-1). Subs Ben McLoughlin for O’Sullivan, Adam Peacock for Kerrigan, Ross Healy for Hannon.
