Forget the premiership, this Sunday sees the intercounty championship click into gear. For Meath Gaels all roads lead to Páirc Tailteann.

Meath launch their Leinster Senior Football Championship campaign with a home against Offaly. Having secured promotion to Division 1 of the National Football League earlier in the year, Meath will approach the championship with a degree of confidence. Meath will go into the game as favourites and on recent form they should advance to the next round.

That said, Offaly always present a stern challenge and Sunday is likely to be no different.

Longwood will be represented by Eoin Lynch and Mickey Burke and we wish our boys and the rest of the Meath panel the best of luck on Sunday.

The game kicks off @ 3.00 and a big crowd is guaranteed.

Earlier @ 1.00 Meath's hurlers open their Christy Ring Cup campaign when they host London.

Meath won this competition as recently as 2016 and will have designs on repeating the feat this year.

Once again Longwood will be represented in the form of Damien Healy. We wish Damien and the lads every success on Sunday and for the remainder of the competition.

As we know in Longwood, championship is what it's all about. The pace and intensity goes up a notch or two and the supporters tend to get more involved.

So make your way to Páirc Tailteann on Sunday and cheer on our hurlers and footballers, as they set off on what we hope will be a successful championship voyage.
